Why econklar Exists: The Story Behind the Tool

econklar

A few years ago, I downloaded yet another budgeting app. The fourth one that year. I connected my bank, set up categories, tracked expenses for two weeks — and then, like every time before, I stopped.

The Problem with Budgeting Apps

Not because I didn’t care about my money. But because life got in the way. Work, family, the daily commute. The app kept sending me notifications I started ignoring. The dashboard became just another tab I never opened.

And yet, every December, the same anxiety came back: Am I actually okay? Am I saving enough? Can we afford that family trip?

I didn’t need to track every coffee. I just needed clarity — once a year, in plain language, telling me where I stand and what to do next.

That Tool Didn’t Exist. So I Built It.

I’m an engineer, not a finance guru. But I know how to build things that solve real problems.

I wanted something radically simple: you fill in a few numbers about your income, expenses, savings, and goals — and you get back a clear, personalized report telling you exactly where you stand financially.

No bank connection. No tracking. No subscriptions. No data stored. Just clarity.

What’s in a Name

econ — because it’s about your economy, your household, your real life.

klar — because the answer should be clear. Not buried in charts, not hidden behind jargon. Just clear.

What econklar Actually Does

econklar gives you what a financial advisor would tell you over coffee — except it takes 10 minutes, costs almost nothing, and your data is never stored.

You get:

  • A financial health score (0–100) so you know where you stand
  • A breakdown of where every dollar goes — and how many work days you spend on each expense
  • Assessment of up to 3 personal goals — with real feasibility and alternatives if the timeline or amount aren’t realistic
  • A 12-month projection and three “What if...?” scenarios to see what changes with small adjustments
  • Priority actions ranked by impact, with your numbers compared to national averages

It’s an annual checkup for your money. Not another app demanding daily attention. Think of it as a complement to the 50/30/20 budgeting approach — but without the daily tracking.

Why It’s Free Right Now

econklar is in open beta. That means you can generate your full financial report for free — no credit card, no signup, no strings attached.

Why? Because I want real people to use it, test it, and tell me what works and what doesn’t. Your feedback shapes the product. Every message at support@econklar.eu reaches me directly.

Try the free financial health calculator and see your score in under 10 minutes.
